| Description: |
Two spherical beads made of mosaic glass. Both have a nice decoration of complex or irregular miniature squares. For one bead this decoration forms a band around the equator, the other bead is fully covered by it. It is difficult to pinpoint the location of manufacturing. But there is the convincing conjecture that such mosaic glass beads were made in workshops in Roman Egypt, possibly in Alexandria. |

13mm and 13mm diameter, hole of approx. 3mm to 4mm.

| Condition: |
One bead reassembled from two fragments and with small chips at the surface. The other bead intact and with well preserved surface. Both beads give a nice overall impression.

Acquired by us in 2017 on the German art market. Previously in a Southern German collection. Acquired into the collection in the 1970ies or earlier on the German art market.
