Object: Egyptian scarab

Material: Marbled grey stone.

Period: Late Period of Ancient Egypt.
26th to 31st dynasty,
664 BC to 332 BC.

Description:    Egyptian scarab made of nicely marbled grey stone. The upper side is carved schematically. The bottom side is structured and not engraved. No drill hole.

Dimensions: 27mm length. 44mm height including modern stand.

Condition: Great condition. Scarab perfectly preserved. Professionally mounted on a beautiful black plastic stand, with a small metal plate glued to the scarab and thus fixed to the stand.

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2021 on the German art market. Previously in the German private collection U. H. Acquired at Christie's London, auction 20 March 1978, lot 280.
