Material: Red clay with glossy metallic black slip, only inside of base is reserved.

Date: Ca. 4th century B.C.

Description:    Voluminous mug with ring-shaped base, short flat shoulder, short cylindrical neck, wide lip and a bi-furcate handle.
Body decorated with grooves.

Size: Height 69 mm, diameter 91 mm

Condition: Body in very good condition. Two fragments at lip restored and one reconstructed, minor chips, handle re-attached.

Reference: Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum, St. Petersburg, State Hermitage Museum 6, Pl. 28.1-2 (the mug shown there decorated below the lip)

Provenance: Acquired 2021 from a North Germany private collection. Acquired between 1980 and 1985 at auction house Schwarzer Bär Roland A. Exner, Hanover, Germany.
