Object: Stone Age chisel from Northern Germany

Material: Light flint.

Period: Approx. 3400 BC to 2400 BC.
Late Funnel Beaker culture to Single Grave culture,
Northern European Neolithic.

Description:    Chisel, polished on two sides. Small blade, finely polished. Asymmetrical shape.

Dimensions: 13.4cm length.

Condition: Very good condition. Some chips, e.g. at the neck, that are probably from Stone Age.

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2020 from the German family collection Marienfeld. The founder of the collection, Horst-Hellmuth Marienfeld, found the sickle between the end of the 1940ies and the early 1950ies on fields on the island of Ruegen in Northern Germany or in the region surrounding the island.
