Description:    Jug with voluminous body on a narrow cylindrical foot, rounded shoulder and long slightly conical neck which is pinched at the top, thus forming a spout. This shape is typical for 4th century B.C. Etruscan Oinochoe vases and known as "Oinochoe con bocca a cartoccio". With handle.
Painted with a human figure in pale red. Ivy leaf on neck, another ivy leaf below the handle between two stems.

Size: Height 208 mm, diameter 115 mm

Condition: A fragment of the spout broken and re-attached. Only minor wear and small surface damages, otherwise nicely preserved including the painting. With hand-written paper note "300 vor Christus Krügchen, bemalt. Tarquinia" (= 300 B.C. Small jar, painted. Tarquinia).

Provenance: Acquired in 2018 from the German private collection P. Schaefer. Inherited by Mr. Schaefer from his father, August Schaefer, who acquired the object for his collection end of the 1950s in Augsburg (Germany) from Dr. Bruckner. Since then the object has been located in Germany. Dr. Bruckner had acquired this piece together with other objects end of the 1950s in Sezze (Latium, Italy) from a local farmer. The city of Tarquinia has been passed down as the findspot of this vase.
