Object: Small axe head from the New Stone Age

Material: Grey metamorphic rock.

Period: 3rd Millenium BC.
Northern European New Stone Age.

Description:    The small axe head has a compact shape. Flat butt and curved sides converging to a blade. The big mounting hole is near the butt. All corners and edges are rounded.

Dimensions: 105mm long, 63mm wide.

Condition: Perfect condition. Nice polished surface and some chips that could attest the usage of the axe head in Stone Age. Two old stickers inscribed "152 Liseby/Mön Neo" and "152".

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2019 from the German private individual S. Fritsch. Inherited from the German private collection of Josef Eheim, collection no. 152. Acquired into the extensive collection of mostly Stone Age artefacts by Mr. Eheim in 1986 from Hildegart Zierott from Moelln, Germany. Liseby on the Danish Island of Moen was passed on as a find spot.
