Object: Alabaster vessel

Material: Alabaster, light beige with very light reddish-brown tones.

Period: 2nd to 1st Millenium BC,
Eastern Mediterranean.

Description:    Slender cylindrical vessel with bulbous shoulder at 3/4 of its height. Collars at the rim and the foot. Small opening for the precious contents.

Dimensions: 90mm height, 56mm diameter.

Condition: Very good condition. Only small chips to the lip and the body, otherwise fully intact.

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2017 from the private posession of M. Voos, Germany. Inherited by M. Voos from the Germany private collection H. Herbst. Acquired between 1976 and 1978 on the London art market for the Herbst collection and brought to Germany. This piece is probably from Davies Antiques, London.
