Object: Beaker with handle of the Bell Beaker culture

Material: Dark clay with dark slip.

Period: Period of the Bell Beaker culture in Europe,
c. 2600 BC to 2000 BC.
Chalcolithic.

Description:    Bulbous waisted beaker with rounded foot and flat base. Attached handle at one side. No decorations on the surface. The shape is typical for vessels of the Bell Beaker culture.

Dimensions: 73mm height, 67mm diameter without handle.

Condition: Very good condition. Two small chips at the lip, otherwise fully intact.

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2017 from the German private collection Heimbach. Inherited from the German private collection Karl Naske. Acquired by Mr. Naske on the art market in the 1960ies or 1970ies.
