Object:       Large bowl skyphos (wine cup with two handles)

Material: Black-figure pottery
Red clay with black slip

Date: Last quarter 6th - first quarter 5th century BC..

Description:    Large semi-globular bowl with a slightly outwards bent lip and two slightly inclined handles. Ring-shaped base.
The frieze shows a panther stepping to the right on each side, between floral elements and palmettes. Inside of the bowl and lip fully covered by black slip, two thick black lines below the frieze, dot and small concentric circle on bottom.

Size: Diameter 203 mm with and 140 mm without handles, height 66 mm.

Condition: Excellent condition. One handle re-attached, stable hair-thin crack in the bowl close to this handle. Minor wear and chips which don't disturb the impression of the excellently preserved decoration.
