Description: |
Bronze dagger, blade with midrib. Parallel edges, triangularly widening towards the handle which is separated from the blade by a cross-bar. The long thin handle was covered by organic material which is no longer preserved. The long dagger is an impressive evidence of the good craftsmanship in the transitional period between the late Bronze Age and the early Iron Age. Rare form. |

Length 46cm, with 35.5cm long blade. Width at handle 5.3 cm. Blade thickness 8mm.

Condition: |
Stable bronze, perfect condition. Slightly cleaned, without damaging the colorful patina. Two nicks on the blade impressively preserve the impact of ancient battles where this blade was used.

Provenance: |
Acquired 2016 in a German auction house. In this from a German private collection in which it was acquired in the 1950s.
