Object: Glass bracelet with polychrome decorations

Material: Turquoise glass with blue and white glass decorations.

Period: From the Roman period, circa 1st to 5th century AD.
Or from the Islamic period, circa 14th to 15th century AD.
Comparable bracelets with different attributions can be found in literature.

Description:    Turquoise glass bracelet. On the outside there are beautiful decorations made of melted glass ribbon in the colors white and blue.
The glass hoop is made continuously, with no visible seam from being put together as a ring. It originated on the eastern Mediterranean coast.

Dimensions: 85mm outer diameter, 75mm inner diameter.

Condition: Perfect condition. The surface has a delicate, iridescent patina.

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2022 from R. Deutsch, Israel. Exported under Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) permit no. 50984. Previously in the Israeli family collection of art dealer Gideon Sasson. Incorporated into the collection in 1925.
