Object: Pair of greek-roman gold earrings

Description:    Two matching gold earrings with a gold bead decoration. Each earring consists of a body of thick gold wire shaped as circle. The wire ends are bent into a hook and eye closure. Half the circumference of the wire is decorated with a row of hollow spheres. Each link in the row consists of three spheres, arranged as a triangle, of which the tip connects to the gold wire. A thin gold wire runs between the two balls that form the base of the triangles and that stabilizes the row. An additional gold sphere is attached to one end of the decoration as a finial.

Dimensions: 26mm x 21mm and 26mm x 20mm.
Weight 3.1g.

Condition: Very good condition. Some of the elaborate hollow sphere are dented or with small cracks. Probably a few spheres missing at the end of one of the bead decorations. The overall condition is unimpaired.

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2022 on the German art market. Previously in the German collection Dr. R. Neumeister. Acquired before 1992.
