Description: |
Slender glass bottle with a cylindrical, slightly tapered shape. A base ring in the form of a crown is melted onto the foot. On the shoulder sits a narrow neck that widens conically towards the top and ends in a lipless mouth. A strap handle runs from the shoulder down to 2/3 of the vessel's height. At the upper end of the handle, the glass band is curved to form an eyelet. It is a glass from the Middle East. With the collection, today's Syria has been handed down as the place of manufacture. |

Condition: |
Almost perfect condition. Minor bumps on the foot and missing parts on the elaborate crown-shaped base. Nice subtle patina.

Acquired by us in 2022 in the Swiss art trade. Previously in the Swiss collection of Franco and Franca Bernasconi, Lugano. Acquired at Sotheby's London in the 1992 Islamic Art auction, p. 9. Possibly a find from Syria.
