Description: |
Beautifully decorated axe head made in Luristan. The tapering blade ends in a crescent-shaped cutting edge. At the back is a cylinder shaft, beautifully decorated with bronze bulges and dots.

Condition: |
Near perfect condition. Only minor damages, probably from ancient use. With nice brown patina and some green incrustations.

Acquired by us in 2023 on the German art market. Previously in the Israeli family collection of art dealer Gideon Sasson. Incorporated into the collection in 1925. Exported in 2022 under Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) approval no. 50526.
