Description: |
Cylindrical seal with a central through hole. The surface is engraved and generates a scene when rolled out. It is a fight scene with lions and a gazelle or a buffalo, respectively.

Background: |
The Early Dynastic period is an era of political upheaval in Mesopotamia. Two city-states of the core region, Sumer and Akkad, grew to unimagined size due to rural exodus. For the next century and a half, the Akkadian Empire dominated Mesopotamia and beyond. The era is therefore called the Akkadian period.

15mm length, 6mm diameter. Relatively big drill hole.

Condition: |
Perfect condition. Very well preserved body with little wear on the surface. With a modern seal imprint.
