Object: Vessel in the style of the Nazca culture

Material: Pottery with polychrome paintings.

Period: 20th century.
Imitating the Nazca period vessels.

Description:    The vessel is almost spherical, but with a bend at 1/3 of its height. The lower part is painted homogeneously brown. The upper part is primed white and then painted in multiple colours. It depicts a deity, a hybrid creature of mythical beast and human, surrounded by masks, heads, a body and geometric patterns. There are two long necks at the top of the vessel, with a ribbon handle in between.

Dimensions: 16.5cm high, approximately 14cm diameter.

Condition: Great condition. Professionally restored.

Provenance: Acquired in 2022 on the German art market. Previously in the German private collection H. S. Since the 1970ies or earlier in Germany.
