Object: Two Near Eastern spearheads or arrowheads

Material: Bronze.

Period: 2nd Millennium BC until early 1st Millennium BC.
Bronze Age or Early Iron Age.

Description:    Two double-edged blades of small spears or large arrows. Each piece is tapering to the front. The blade is reinforced in the middle. It terminates in a long tang with square cross-section to mount the point to the shaft of the projectile.

Dimensions: 13.8cm and 12.2cm long, respectively.

Condition: Very good condition. Some old or recent damage to the edges. Body otherwise fully intact and covered with an attractive green patina.

Provenance: Acquired by us on the German art market in 2022. Previously in the German Pladeck family collection. Acquired into the collection in the 1960s or earlier, presumably from the art trade.
