Material: Bronze.

Period: Circa 2nd Millennium BC.
Bronze Age or Early Iron Age.

Description:    Double-edged blade of a spearhead, tapering to the front. A longitudinal mid-rib reinforces the blade. It terminates in an open hollow cylinder to mount the point to the shaft of the spear. It is probably a weapon point from Luristan, in today northern Iran.

Dimensions: 19.6cm long.

Condition: Very good condition. Some old or recent damage to the edges. Body otherwise fully intact and covered with an attractive green patina.

Provenance: Acquired by us on the German art market in 2022. Previously in the German Pladeck family collection. Acquired into the collection in the 1960s or earlier, presumably from the art trade.
