Description: |
Neolithic axe head from Denmark. The tool has a slightly trapezoidal shape and is finely polished on all four sides. It is typologically a thin butted blade with a broad neck. The stone blade was once mounted and used as an axe. Some old chips indicate its practical use. |
Dimensions: |
15.0cm long. 7.0cm wide at the tip of the blade, 5.5cm wide at the neck, 1.1cm thick at the neck.

Condition: |
Very good condition, all sides finely polished. Some chips on the neck and smaller chips distributed over the body. Inscriptions from previous owners "232.", "647", "18[...]" and "Aalborg", as well as a sticker from a previous owner with very faded inscription "6.4713, Hach[...] Aalborg Danemark".

Acquired by us in 2022 on the French art market. Previously in the French private collection Lepage. Acquired between 1975 and 1989 at an art auction. Apparently a find from Aalborg in Denmark.
