Description: |
Six small neolithic axe heads from southern France. The tools have the shape of a trapezoidal wedges. Both sides are smoothened and at least the cutting edges are finely polished. The stone blades were once mounted and used as axes. Some old chips indicate their practical use.

5.5cm to 8.9cm long.

Condition: |
Beautifully polished surfaces on all sides. Some chips on the bodies and edges, also some larger damages. Overall good condition. Stickers from the Artaud collection with imprinted collection numbers.

Acquired by us in 2022 on the French art market. Previously in the French Artaud family collection. Acquired in the 1970s in Aix en Provence, France.
