Description: |
Two earrings made of gold wire bent into a nearly circular shape, both ends twisted into a clasp. On each earring, opposite the clasp, is a curved shield made of sheet gold soldered to the wire. The outer rims are decorated with a raised edge, in the center sits a decorative knob. Both earrings are of the same type, but probably not originally belonging together. The shield on one earring is slightly larger, the soldering points are set differently. The wire on one earring is thicker than on the other. The pieces were therefore recombined in ancient or modern times, but now they form a beautiful and quite appropriate ensemble. |
