Description:    High vase with profiled ring-shaped base, ovoid body with flat shoulder, high slightly concave neck and flat mouth with semi-vertical rim. Two small, horizontally attached handles turning under a 90° angle to the top, third vertical handle from shoulder to the neck.
The main scene shows a naked youth sitting on a stone to the left, his left arm posed on the stone covered by his cloth, a long rod in his right arm. In front of him is a woman standing, handling him a large box with her left hand. Volutes below the handles, large palmette on the back, laurel band on the shoulder, bands of parallel vertical lines on neck and rim.

Size: Height 268 mm, diameter 180 mm with and 154 mm without handles

Condition: Restored from several fragments, minor wear and chips. The original decoration is well preserved. Impressive large vase. Ancient graffito left of the woman. Collector's sticker "3. Jh. v. Chr. Campania" on bottom.

TL analysis: A thermoluminescence analysis performed by Kotalla Laboratory in November 2020 has confirmed the age of the vessel to be 2400 years (+/- 16%), which perfectly matches with the dating based on the style of the vessel.

Provenance: Acquired 2020 at a German auction house. Ex private collection R.Villinger-Schmeller, Bavaria, Germany, acquired before 1980.
