Object: Canaanite scarab

Material: Steatite.

Period: At the time of the Second Intermediate Period of Egypt,
13th dynasty to early 18th dynasty,
approx. 1648 BC to 1500 BC.

Description:    Seal in the shape of a scarab. With drill hole along the long axis. The upper side is schematic. The lower side is engraved and the impression shows pseudo hieroglyphs: Winged sun, duck under corner of wall and nb hieroglyph for "Master".

Dimensions: 13mm long. 4mm wide.

Condition: Perfect condition. Fully intact with all details.

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2018 from R. Deutsch, Israel. Exported in the same year with permission of the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA). Previously in the private collection of I. Rosen, Tel Aviv, Israel.
