Object: Cypriot bowl

Material: Beige pottery with reddish slip and brown paint.

Period: Approx. 750 BC to 600 BC,
Cypro-Archaic.
Iron Age.

Description:    Bowl or dish with flat base and two handles at oposing sides. The outside and inside are decorated by painted concentric circles, the handles and the rim are accentuated by paint. So called Black-on-Red ware.

Dimensions: 17.5cm diameter without handle. 3.6cm height.

Condition: One handle broken off and most part of it missing. The rest of the bowl in prime condition. Remains of the original paint are well preserved.

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2018 on the British art market. Previously in the collection of D. Read. Acquired into the collection between 1966 and 1969.
