Object: Cypriot oinochoe

Material: Orange clay with red slip and black paint.

Period: Approx. 750 BC to 600 BC,
Cypro-Archaic.

Description:    Vessel with almost spherical body and flat base. Short slender neck with a trefoil spout. Short handle in the shape of a double-band. The body is decorated on both sides by concentrical black circles. The neck is bordered by two encircling black lines, two further slim lines below. The lip is accentuated by a black line.

Dimensions: 22cm high, 12.5cm diameter.

Condition: Missing pieces at the lip and small chips scattered over the body. Otherwise fully intact. Very good overall condition including the original black paint.

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2017 from the German family collection Brem. Acquired for the collection in 1958 in Kuwait.
