Object: Globular oinochoe

Material: Yellowish clay with brown and red painting

Date About 5th - 4th century B.C.

Description:    Globular jug with large flat base and flat handle. Narrow neck opening into a trefoil-shaped mouth.
The vessel is decorated with rings painted in brown and red, on the shoulder saw tooth band. Inside the spout four resp. five short rays at the handle and the trefoil, three lines on the outside of the handle.

Size: Height 169 mm, Diameter 135 mm.

Condition: Perfectly preserved for a vessel of this size, only minor wear and chips. The painting is widely preserved. Old sticker "V.33." on the base.

Provenance: Acquired 2018 from the German family collection Bergweiler which was formed over several generations. Acquired by Ä. and P. Bergweiler January 30th, 1965 at Antiquitätenhandlung Hermann Zirkel, Cologne, Germany.
