Object:       Small plate with high foot

Material: Yellowish clay with black slip

Late Classical - early Hellenistic epoch

Description:    Small plate with high elegant foot, partially covered with black slip. Concentric black circles inside the plate and on lip.

Size: Diameter 129 mm, height 60 mm.

Condition: Very good condition, small chip at foot, otherwise undamaged. With label "74A f 6-5th BC Sth It. Greek. AV N.03".

References: Similar to Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum, Italien 68, Gioia del Colle Museo Nazionale Taf. 16.2, but more delicate work.

Provenance: Acquired 2017 from the German private collection M. Voos, inherited in this from the German private collection H. Herbst. Acquired for the Herbst collection in 1978 at Davies Antiques Gallery, London (copy of the invoice is at hand).
