Object: Flint knife from Northern Germany

Material: Light polychrome flint.

Period: Dagger Period,
2350 BC to 1700 BC.
Northern European Aeneolithic.

Description:    Flat two-edged blade, straight and symmetrical. The knife or small dagger was inspired by imported Copper ware, that was a luxury good and copied in stone.

Dimensions: 10.0cm length.

Condition: Perfect condition. Some chips that are probably from Stone Age.

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2020 from the German family collection Marienfeld. The founder of the collection, Horst-Hellmuth Marienfeld, found the sickle between the end of the 1940ies and the early 1950ies on fields on the island of Ruegen in Northern Germany or in the region surrounding the island.
