Transition from Middle-Elamite to Neo-Elamite Period

Description:    Biconical body, flat foot. The short neck smoothly turns into a protruding lip. Vertical handle with circular profile. The channel-shaped spout decorated with a cone and a double disk resembles a stylized bird.

Size: Length 26 cm (originally about 28 cm), height 16.5 cm, diameter 22 cm (without handle and spout).

Condition: The front part of the spout is missing. Small chips at rim. Otherwise excellent condition for a jar of this size. Nice patina. Impressive piece for an exposition or an exquisite collection.

Provenance: Acquired 2016 in a German auction house. Ex old German collection, in which the jar was for several generations. Acquired in the collection prior to 1938.
