Globulous body, foot of a distinct conical shape, high almost vertical rim. Two high curved handles attached. Body decorated with bands of red.

Height 111 mm with and 95 mm without handles, diameter 132 mm

Condition: |
Good condition. One handle restored, about 7mm chip missing at top. Otherwise completely preserved body with well preserved original decoration and encrustations. With writings "428" and "4518" from a former collector, as well as glue traces from an old sticker on the bottom.

Provenance: |
Acquired 2021 from Mr. M.B., Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, who acquired the alabastron and other objects from the collection of M.T., Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. Inherited from his parents who acquired the object in Germany in the 1960s. A note from the antiquities dealer Dr. Kurt Deppert, "Kunstwerke der Antike", Frankfurt am Main, dated February 08, 1968, sets the terminus ante quem the object was acquired into the collection T. Dr. Deppert was requested by the family T. to provide a short assessment of the collection, which he did along with a detailed description of all objects.
