Large Boeotian kantharos from old German private collection

Material: Reddish clay with black slip.

Date: 2nd half 5th century B.C.
Boeotian

Description:    Discus-shaped foot, gently rising into a high stem with central ridge. High cylindrical body with wide mouth. High concave handles. Fully covered with black slip, floral decoration on body widely faded.

Size: Height 225 mm with and 180 mm without handles, diameter 205 mm with and 129 mm without handles.

Condition: Professionally restored from fragments, small missing parts and chips all over the body, especially on foot. Overall good condition with largely preserved black slip. Old sticker "J 1511" inside, under the foot writing "310H".
