Description: |
Double-edged blade of a long dagger, tapering to the front. It is reinforced by a pronounced midrib. An integral tang is at the back to mount the blade to the hilt. The tang or thorn is characteristic for this blade type, leading to the German name "Griffangeldolch". The grip itself was made of perishable material, possibly wood, horn or bone and is not preserved.

Perfect condition. Bronze body complete and intact. With beautiful green patina.

Acquired by us in 2023 on the German art market. Previously in the Israeli family collection of art dealer Gideon Sasson. Incorporated into the collection in 1925. Exported in 2022 under Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) approval no. 50526.
