Lamp with a round body and short nozzle. Raised rim around the filling hole, forming a ledge around the hole. Flat bottom. So-called Herodian oil Lamp, a lamp type that was used between the last quarter of the 1st century B.C. and until the end of the first century A.D. It is called after king Herod the Great, during whose reign Jesus Christ was born. |

Very well preserved, only slight wear and minor chips, especially on rim and nozzle.

Almost identical to Noam Adler, Oil-Lamps from the Holy Land, The Adler Collection, 2004, Nr. 83, smallest differences of nozzles lead to the assumption that this particular lamp is not identical with Nr. 83.
