Trajan, in military dress, seated right on high platform on left, raising his right hand haranguing soldiers; by him stand two officers, in front of him on the ground stand an officer right, and four soldiers left; the two front soldiers raise their right hands, the third holds two spears, the fourth holds a horse by the bridle; standards in background. IMPERATOR VIIII S C The reverse of this coin depicts Trajan's acclamation by the troops as imperator for the ninth time, which occurred during the campaigns on the eastern frontier. |
