Date: Second half 4th century - early 3rd century B.C.
Early Hellenistic epoch

Description:    Globular bowl with high rim and two large handles which are bent to the top at their ends. Double-staged high foot. Decorated with a vine branch with leafs and fruits between the handles on both sides.

Size: Height 72 mm, diameter 162 mm

Condition: Almost perfectly preserved including the original painting. Handles broken and professionally restored (visible only upon a very detailed inspection). Worth the exhibition at a museum. Sticker "43/21" on bottom.

Provenance: Acquired in 2021 at a German auction house. From the collection of the archeologist Prof. Fritz Fremersdorf (1894 - 1983), Cologne, Germany, consigned by his family. Prof. Fremersdorf was the first one to dedicate himself to provincial Roman archeology in Cologne. Between 1923 and 1959, he was the director of what is known today as the Romano-Germanic Museum in Cologne and significantly contributed to strongly extending the museum collection via acquisition of important private collections.
