Object: Roman glass beaker

Material: Pale green, almost colourless, clear glass.

Period: 4th century AD.
Roman Imperial.

Description:    Cylindrical glass beaker on a ring base. The walls are almost vertical, but extend far outwards above the base. The lip points upwards and outwards. Below this is a decorative bulge running all the way around. This rare type of cup is a product from the eastern Mediterranean.

Dimensions: 10.2cm height, 8.2cm diameter.

Condition: Perfect condition. Completely intact. Two modern stickers on the bottom. One with the inscription "2", the Heckmann collection number.

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2023 from the German Heckmann family collection. The founder Peter Heckmann acquired the glass collection in the 1970s on the German art market.
