Object: Roman glass bottle

Material: Pale turquoise glass.

Period: Circa 3rd century AD to 4th century AD.
Roman Imperial period.

Description:    Glass bottle with a globular body. The bottom is flattened to form a base. The funnel-shaped neck opens upwards and ends in a smoothened lip. Three bands of cut decorative grooves run around the vessel.

Dimensions: 13.0cm height. 9.3cm diameter.

Condition: Perfect condition. Completely intact, with attractive find deposits on the inside.

Provenance: Acquired by us in 2023 from the German Heckmann family collection. The founder Peter Heckmann acquired the glass collection in the 1970s on the German art market.
