Description:    Cup with flat base, cylindrical, slightly convex body and round-bar lip.

Size: Diameter 120 mm, height 88 mm.

Condition: At the rim and upper part of the body some cracks and chips. Larger chip on one side of body. One part of the rim restored from small fragments. Overall a very nice and impressive piece.

Provenance: Acquired 2022 from the German private collection E.S. Presented to E.S. in 2008 by Ms. Margarete Scheubert. Acquired by the Scheubert family in Tunisia between 1960 and 1974. Allegedly acquired in El Djem.
Rudolf Scheubert, the husband of Margarete Scheubert, was a diplomat. In the 1960s, the Scheubert family had a close relationship to the former royal family of Tunisia and spent a lot of time in the country until 1974. Their son, Bernhard (Bernd) Scheubert, who was the partner of E.S., later became internationally known as the „Tunisia Painter“.
