Background: The shabtis of this owner were found during an excavation in Deir el-Medina, carried out between 1922 and 1951 by the Institut Français d'Archéologie Orientale. Various objects found were given to museums in Egypt and France. Indirectly or possibly directly some objects must also have been given to private individuals or art dealers. A description of the excavation in Deir el-Medina is given by D. Valbelle in his 1972 book "Ouchebtis de Deir El-Médineh".
The book also includes the type of inscription seen on this shabti. The statuette offered here is appearently from chamber 2 of tomb 336 in Deir el-Medina. In total 16 intact and 39 fragmentary shabtis of Djed Khonsu have been found there.
