Object: North-west Persian bronze arrowhead or spearhead
Material: Massive bronze cast.
Period: 2nd to early 1st Millenium BC,
Middle Bronze Age to Early Iron Age.
Dimensions: 118mm long.
Description: Bronze Arrowhead or spearhead for light throwing spears. From a large group of north west Persian point types with reinforced central ridge and rectangular shaft. Excellent example of pre-ancient weapon techniques from the renowned Guttmann collection.
Axel Guttmann was one of the most important collectors of ancient militaria in the modern era. Many of his artefacts have been published in works by Hermann Born and Ursula Seidl and displayed in Berlin's museums.
Condition: Excellent condition, complete and fully intact. Slightly cleaned surface with nice patination.
Provenience: Acquired 2011 in an auction house. In a private colletion before. Acquired for that collection from Christie's auction house, London, in 2004. Before, in the Axel Guttmann private collection, Berlin. Finds from Persia's North-Western regions.
