Interesting group of objects from the Professor Brosch collection of ancient gems. It has two intaglios, one cameo, two glass decorations, a lead bulla and a modern cast of a quality ancient gem.

Römerzeit bis Neuzeit, nicht näher bestimmt. Zwei antike Schlüssel, Nägel und Sporen. 2012 aus dem Privatbesitz T. Bak erworben, an welchen in dritter Familiengeneration die Sammlung von Professor Josef Lambinet übergegangen ist. Nach Angaben und Dokumenten von Prof. Lambinet wurden die Objekte um 1920 in Mainz gefunden, unmittelbar an der römischen Wasserleitung Mainz-Zahlbach. Siehe nähere Fundortdokumentation bei Art.nr. The swastika shaped brooch with horse head terminals was worn by the cavallery in Late Antiquity. In particular by the troops recruited by the Romans from their Pannonian Foederati. It might have been a symbol for strength or designated a military rank.
