Antiquities from the Far East
Ever since, the history of China, Japan and other Asian countries has fascinated the occidental societies. Countless events and inventions from pre-dynastic China, as well as from the time of the Chinese Emperors which lasted for two millennia, inspired Renaissance Europe. One prominent example is the Chinaware technique which was invented in China already in the 7th century AD, but reached Europe only in the early 18th century. Or take the traditions of Japanese samurai warriors, with their Katana swords which reached almost mythical fame all over the world. We are proud to offer you a fine selection of ancient pieces from China, Japan and other Asian countries. It will always be a pleasure to us to individually work with you on your own and personal collection, looking for special pieces you would like to add. Please do not hesitate to contact us any time via email or using our contact form. Correspondence is welcome in English, German, Italian, French, Russian or Japanese.-
Stone relief from Gandhara
Wunderful example of the curious symbiosis of greek art and buddhist tradition in the second century. The relief shows a key moment in Buddhas life, when he abandons his life as prince Siddhartha to seek enlightenment.
