Die Form wird in der Literatur als Schuh- oder Sandalensohle bezeichnet. Der sehr dekorative Fibeltyp war extrem beliebt und im zweiten Jahrhundert weit verbreitet. Er stammt aus den nördlichen römischen Provinzen.
