Ancient weapons and armor
The discovery of bronze revolutionized ancient weaponry. Bronze swords became the decisive weapon during the Bronze Age and ancient times. The prestige associated with bronze weapons is best illustrated by Luristan daggers, maces and axes. Besides their military importance, Lurstian weapons with purely symbolic function were buried along with men of high social status. When ancient weapons are mentioned, the impressive Greek armors immediately come to mind, with their magnificent bronze helmets reminding us of the heroic battles in ancient times. The Romans introduced many innovations in weaponry. They began to use standardized armors and mass-produced iron swords. The gladius was a light and short traditional Roman sword used for centuries by the legionaries.
